About Joe Recsnik MTOM, DCCM, FICEAM, L.Ac.

Joe Recsnik is a licensed acupuncturist, herbalist, herbal pharmacist, and founder of POPULUSS Classical Eastern Healing.

Joe discovered the power of acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine in his 20’s. “I began receiving acupuncture and taking herbs to address my severe asthma condition,” said Joe. “After regular treatment, I was eventually able to stop using my asthma inhaler and medication completely! From that point on I was hooked.” Soon after he returned to school to undertake a life-long study and practice of Canonical Chinese Medicine®.

Joe is an expert in Canonical Chinese Medicine, trained to practice according to ancient manuscripts of the Han dynasty (circa 200 B.C.E.), also known as canons. Joe Recsnik studied under the tutelage of teacher Arnaud Versluys Ph.D., MD, L.Ac, (lineage holder of the Tian-Zeng lineage®). That means Joe has gained formerly secret knowledge and traditions handed down from the ancient masters. 

Joe has also received extensive and advanced training in pulse and abdominal diagnosis techniques which make this system one of the most pragmatic and advanced styles of herbalism. Therefore, Joe has expertise in both diagnosing and treating a wide variety of illnesses and conditions. Then he creates a treatment plan and herbal medicine formula specifically designed to address the root cause of the patient’s issues and conditions. 

POPULUSS operates a comprehensive Chinese herbal pharmacy that compounds customized herbal medicine for both patients and other licensed practitioners.

Despite his many years of training Joe’s thirst for knowledge persists. “I am committed to continually expanding my own knowledge and skills as a practitioner through perpetual learning and study,” Joe declared.

Background

Prior to establishing POPULUSS Joe served as a professor in the Department of Traditional Asian Medicine at Life University in Gardena, CA. Then as an instructor of Tai Chi Chuan at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA.

Born in St Louis, Missouri Joe has and also lived in Northern Virginia and Dallas, Texas before settling in Los Angeles. He received an undergraduate degree in Recording Arts from Loyola Marymount University and worked in the music industry at the renowned Record Plant Recording Studios prior to becoming an acupuncturist.
